The Flexicalymene Trilobite (Flexicalymene tazarensis) is one of 17,000 species of the extinct trilobite. Trilobites roamed the ocean floors 540 to 250 million years ago long before dinosaurs. All trilobites went extinct 250 million years ago! This particular genus lived in the Ordovician period (485 to 443 million years ago). Their closest living relative is the horseshoe crab.
Imagine holding, and owning a fossil, that lived over 443 million years ago! These fossils are an excellent addition to any collection or the perfect way to get started in the hobby. They are a great gift for the entry-level collector or aspiring paleontologist! Our Flexicalymene specimens are from the Atlas Mountain Range in Morocco.
The specimens measure 2 to 3" in length and have been restored to keep the specimen intact. Given the abrasive and explosive process of extracting this extraordinarily old fossil from the earth, these trilobites are invariably damaged during the process and are patched and glued back together.
Each specimen is unique and the photographs are of representative pieces, intended to show the variations among specimens. We will select a specimen for you. Contact us before placing your order if you would like to select your specific piece. We will send you a photograph of available specimens so you can select your preferred piece.
With each fossil purchased, we will provide you with a small identification slip to keep with your specimen.
