Find your own Megalodon tooth and search for treasure using our Megalodon bag of Fossils, Shark's Teeth, and Seashell Mining Rough! Each bag of our hand-assembled mining rough contains a hearty amount of seashells from the Indian and Pacific Oceans, fossilized sharks’ teeth, an authentic Megalodon tooth (or similar species), and a Mosasaur Tooth. The "Megalodon" bag of mining rough is a super-sized version of our "Beachcomber" and is certain to please the shark enthusiast!
Note: the Megalodon tooth in our mining rough is often graded as a 60-75% tooth (meaning it is not a complete tooth) and is typically 1" to 1.75" in length measured along the diagonal. Occasionally, a different species of shark tooth will be found in place of the Megalodon, such as the Mako, Great White, or the Chubutensis or Angustidens (ancestors to the Megalodon). You may receive a smaller, higher-quality tooth or a larger, lower-quality tooth, each tooth is unique.
Each bag of mining rough, weighing roughly 5 pounds, is comprised of a blend of sediment hiding the treasure contained within, creating an enjoyable search-and-find experience. The shells and shark's teeth will vary in size, ranging from tiny pieces to 2" shells, take your time to find them all!
Creating an at-home mining experience is easier than you might think, all you need is a water source (we recommend a container with some water) and a sand sifter. Simply pour some of the mining rough into a sand sifter and dip it in a water basin to reveal and retrieve the treasure. Wash, rinse, and repeat - you will dig it!
With each bag of mining rough, we will provide you with one Treasure Identification Card and a resealable plastic bag to store the treasures once found.

A quick word of caution - you should do this activity outside and please do not pour the water into your drains (you don't want a visit from the plumber!). And keep in mind that the mining rough contains small and sometimes sharp pieces. Please ensure all children are supervised during their mining experience. This activity may contain sharp or small pieces and is not suitable for children age 3 and under.
