Megalodon Shark Tooth

Regular price $25.00 Sale

This is the fossilized tooth of the largest shark to have ever lived - the Megalodon (Carcharocles megalodon). This extinct species of shark was believed to reach 59 feet in length, roughly three times the length of the longest great white shark, and lived 28 to 1.5 million years ago. The fossilized teeth from this apex predator are highly sought after by both amateur and seasoned fossil collectors and are often considered the most desired of fossils. Our teeth are scuba diver recovered from the waters of South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Florida.

Measuring 3 - 1/2" long (measured along the longest diagonal - root edge to tip), this tooth is graded at a 75% completeness level or better. This specimen has a sandy-grey colored enamel with a dark brown, almost black, colored root. This tooth's bourlette is present and the edges are gently worn. It is said that for every 1" of tooth, the shark was approximately 10' in length.  That means this tooth came from a shark that was well over 30' in length!  This tooth is the perfect gift at a great price for the collector, shark-enthusiast or aspiring paleontologist in your life!

A quick note about our pricing.  We intentionally price our Megalodon teeth below-market-rate as we are able to secure them at a discounted price because of our bulk buying power.  As the parents of a 10-year-old child, we believe in pricing these incredible fossils at an affordable price leaving families room in their budget to begin or add to a fossil collection.  If you compare our Meg teeth to those sold by others, you will notice the price difference.  As a collector's piece, these teeth continue to increase in value over time.  With our pieces, you are starting off with a bit of investment equity, and that's always a good thing.

You are purchasing this exact specimen.  With each fossil specimen purchased, we provide you with a small information card to store with your fossil.  We hope you enjoy your new treasure!
