This fossil is an amazing preservation of the extinct shrimp, Carpopanaeus callirostris. This animal lived during the Cretaceous period (146 to 65 million years ago) and was found in Lebanon.
This fossilized shrimp plaque measures 3-1/8" x 3-1/8" and has a slight bevel to the underside, allowing the piece to rest with a slight incline. It's quite perfect for viewing the shrimp actually! This shrimp has beautiful blue silhouette outlining its legs. You will be amazed by the incredible amount of detail preserved in this piece, upon close inspection you can view the animal's swimmerets! This is a beautiful specimen of a relatively large shrimp (over 1-1/2" from tip to the rounded tail).
