This fossil is of the extinct genus of bony fish (Knightia eocena) that lived in freshwater lakes of North America.  The state fossil of Wyoming, this is the most commonly excavated fish in the world.  These fish would reach up to 10 inches long.  They lived 50 million years ago and are from the Green River formation. 
 
Each specimen is unique and fairly delicate.  Upon close inspection, you can see the fine, intricate details of the fish’s skeleton.  This fish plaque measures 3-3/8" x 2-1/2", the fish itself is 1-3/4" long from tip of the tail to its mouth.
