Enjoy this amazingly preserved specimen of an Alligator's tooth. Found in the Withlacoochee River in Florida, this specimen dates back to the Pleistocene epoch, specifically 2.2 to 1.9 million years ago. The American Alligator (Alligator mississippiensis) is a large crocodilian native to the southeastern United States. This species arose 8 million years ago and lives today (Miocene epoch to present).
